Nikon D200 / CF-SD adapter?

Postby JCL » Fri May 06, 2011 10:04 pm

Hope someone out there can help.

I have an Eye-Fi Connect X2 and would like to use it with my (non-Eye-Fi supported) Nikon D200. I'm really not sure if the CF>SD adapter needs to be a Type I or Type II.

I purchased a SDCF-01 from ShopDigi (their blue card which is a Type II), and while it works with any regular SD card, it doesn't work with my Eye-Fi Card. ShopDigi's "SD/SDHC/SDXC to High-Speed Extreme CF Type II Adapter" (green colored) was not compatible with the D200 and had to return it.

I'd really like to get my D200 on board and use it with my iPad and ShutterSnitch. Is there a brand of card that will work?, or is the camera's surrounding tissue just too thick to get a wi-fi signal out?

Thanks in advance for any input.
John

btw - (should mention I've been using the Eye-Fi Connect X2 with an (Eye-Fi supported) Canon S95 and it works well.

Hi , I'm sorry I can't help you, but maybe you could do it to me.

I've bought two cf>sd adapters, and either of the two doesn't work with my d200, (their brand are JOBO and DELOCK) my d200 shows a (CHA) error.

I've read yours (the blue one that you bought, works with the d200 (does it really work ? .. :) ... ), have you tried another adapter brands? Do you know why there is some brands it doesn't work and others it does? (mine , I'm keeping the JOBO adapter) works perfect with a d300 but I've tried with 4 different d200 and it had the same error.

i would buy it without asking for that price, but as the shipment will cost me 3 times the adapter price, I would like to be sure. I've write to ShopDigi, and I'm waiting a answer about it.

thanks

While I have not tried any other brand, the DigiGear adapter card (blue one) I bought through ShopDigi works flawlessly (http://www.shopdigi.com/product.aspx?pf_id=CIDA2).

I had first tried their high speed version (green card), but it was not compatible with my D200 (think because of the high speed aspect).

At the time of this posting, the cost on this card is $14.98, and the shipping is free. If all you're planning to use it for is as an adapter for regular SD cards, it should be fine. As far as using it with an Eye-Fi Connect X2 SD card, it won't work for that.

Should add that their customer service is very good. You can actually talk to someone and they'll help troubleshoot if you need it.

Hi
The adapter is a type 2 and too thick to fit in the camera that use type 1 cf's
I have bought an adapter only to find this problem.
I used a Dremmel to grind of the top which is a metal plate.
I then took away enough of the sides to make the side-on profile thinner.
This is not a reliable way of doing it, but it works.
To make sure that the sd card remains in the modified adapter, slip a piece of business card between the sd card and the camera's cardholder to hold it in place.
Cheers
