RAW not Uploading

Postby ray » Wed Apr 04, 2012 9:36 pm

Back again with a new problem. SS is not extracting the RAW files from my Nikon D7000. If I shoot RAW + JPEG only the JPEG file are received. RAW only does not work at all.
JPEGs show up quickly. However, the card light on the camera continues to blink and there is blinking card icon showing in the lower right corner of the selected JPEG file. I have waited for extended periods of time…no RAW files.
“Accept only JPEGs” in the SS settings is turned off.
I formatted the card and tried again. No effect.
The RAW files are on the card as I downloaded both formats to Aperture.
As always, help will be appreciated.

It's important to note, that ShutterSnitch does not "extract" anything. It accepts uploads. It's up to the card to send the files.

If "Accept only JPEGs" is turned on, ShutterSnitch will just tell the card "sure, I received the whole file, thanks", when the card tries to send it.

So if you don't see a "Receiving.." info in ShutterSnitch, I'd say your card is not set up to send RAW files.

Do you also have "Show only JPGs in the filmstrip" turned off? It's four options below "Accept only...". What model Eye-Fi Card do you have?

I found the old card log you uploaded for a different issue, looks like you have a Mobile X2 Card. That's the issue. Only the Eye-Fi Pro Cards upload RAW files, the rest just ignore them.

Yup. Sorry, Eye-Fi limited RAW to only the Pro cards. For what it's worth though, most of my cards are Pro cards and I never use them to transfer RAW. The large file size makes the upload take to long, it's easier for me to just plug the card in and copy them to the Mac for processing.

Thanks. I was wondering about the transfer rates for RAW. Any hope for improvement?

Not really. Wifi can only do so much and with the size of RAW files from advanced and pro level SLRs being so large. Add in the small size of an Eye-Fi and that limits it more. For transferring the amount of RAW files you would shoot at a typical photoshoot or press event I would recommend one of the Wireless File Transfer units from Canon or Nikon.
