1) create a top-level posting titled 'shuttersnitch backup 1.0 now released'.
2) Regarding the beta; are there any special uninstall or removal instructions to be followed before installing the new version?

Nothing special no. Just drag the beta from your Applications folder to the trash. Then you can install the one from the Mac App Store.
Support the development of ShutterSnitch: Rate/review it in iTunes, click the 'Like' button at the bottom of the ShutterSnitch website, Tweet about it, make Youtube videos, blog about it.. Get the word out :)
