Bingo! I did have a password in the FTP settings dialog, but there was a typo between my superuser password in snitch and what I put into the WT5. It works perfectly now. I have it set up to send Basic jpgs to the SS/iPad while saving NEFs to the card. And it only takes about 3 seconds per jpg!

This is too incredibly sweet, and your product support during my little installation snafu has been absolutely first rate!

Thank you so much... I'm a very happy camper.

Hi Brian,

I'm having a devil of a time getting the Snitch to work on my new D4 with the WT-5. I had it working great on my D700 with a WT-4a ( after a bit of struggle! )

I've read your guide and Rob G's tutorial for the WT-4 I am pretty sure I can configure camera network settings, my iPad's wifi settings and open a Snitch collection.

Are there any differences in setup from the WT4a and WT 5? I've been setting up a Ad-hoc network manually but just downloaded Nikon new Network Utility and maybe that will make a difference.

thx Alain

Not that I know of.

What's the problem exactly? And what settings do you use? The more info the better.

Brian,

So I decided to try your settings instead of Rob's and bam worked first time. I think there are subtle IP addressing differences, Open vs Shared setting for Wireless Authentication and WEP64 encryption key is only 5 characters ( which I made my Snitch password too. )

I did use Nikon's new Wireless Transmitter Utility this second time. I did notice that the Profile type is no longer called an FTP server but FTP upload ( Not to be confused with Image Transfer ). And on the D4 what used to be in transfer settings is now in Network/Options.

And I'm not sure that it matters but I enter my network settings on my iPad and iPhone before I connect to the WT-5 network.

Still had an issue with the Snitch keeping up with my shooting. I have the original iPad. Do you think the iPad 3 would analyze and display the transferred images ( basic small jpegs ) any faster? Other suggestions to speed things along?

thx Alain
