Ipad icon says "waiting..."

I have shuttersnitch working fine for me. I use the eye fi pro in direct mode with mwyi. It runs again and again with no issues. I tested it several times with no nearby wifi and it goes well. I had it in the field (on the beach for a swimsout catalog shoot) and no problems.

Day #3 on the beach and we hit the wall. I retreive a few photo wirelessly and then it stops. I hit the Ipad Home button and the shuttersntch icon is a grey square that says "waiting..." beneath it. I am never running the eyefi app. I restart mywi cycle airplane mode a few times and restart the ipad a few times. etc. I kill everything and it still says "waiting.." and pressing the icon has no response. I'm hosed.

I bring it home and voila, there is shuttersnitch like there was never anything wrong. Perhaps it is because now I am near a real wifi signal. In anycase, does any one know what was happening there and how to recover from it out in the field if it were to happen again?

The only time I've seen the icon title change is when installing / updating apps.

Of course, on a jailbroken device anything can be tinkering with the system.

Do you have some sort of auto-updating feature for apps installed, that could be the culprit?

Did it look like that? That is what an app that is waiting to download, or download an update, and install it will look like. That is why after you where on a wifi network it went away, as it was able to download.

FYI: It's one or the other. Either you are using MyWi or Direct Mode. You do not need MyWi, a Jailbroken device or even any app installed other than ShutterSnitch to upload from an Eye-Fi Card directly to ShutterSnitch without a router. You may want to simplify your setup so it is easier to use and more reliable. Check out the info on Eye-Fi's sight about Direct Mode.
