Can't connect a wft-e4ii to iPad w/ v2.1.5

I can't connect a 5dm2 using a wft-e4ii to my iPad in v2.1.5 but can on a different iPad running v2.1.4. I tried removing the app and reloading; I tried connection wizard; I input settings manually, but get the err41 msg saying it can't connect to the FTP server. I switched to an iPad running v2.1.4 of shutter snitch, and bingo! Worked on the first try. Anyone ideas about why it won't work on the updated version?

I was logged in as a superuser, so the 2.1.5 install was correct. I even changed the password and logged in again just in case that was the issue.

I checked, double checked, triple checked the ip address, and am pretty sure I had it right. That I was able to do it on the iPad running 2.1.4 told me the process I was going through was the correct one because I had to enter the ip address for that iPad in the connection wizard.

I'm truly stumped. Any other thoughts? I even uninstalled and re-installed the app.

Can you connect to ShutterSnitch via normal FTP?

While your computer and iPad is on the same wireless network, enter a collection and note the IP. Then open a browser on your computer and type this into the address bar:

ftp://<the FTP user name - default is "snitch">:<your super user password>@<the IP that ShutterSnitch displayed when you entered the collection>:<the port shown when you enter the collection - default is 26000>

Example: ftp://snitch:12345@192.168.1.101:26000

If things work, you should see the contents of the collection (or if it's empty, you'll see a "ShutterSnitchFTP" file).

I doubt that the problem is the 2.1.5 release, since the only change to the FTP code is the addition of handling a new command. ..and I haven't heard from anyone else having this issue. Has the iPad had 2.1.4 installed earlier and worked?

I tried changing my password which gave me a new host address to use, and it worked! Still don't know why it didn't work before since the new password is actually same password. Weird. Anyway, it's working now. Thanks for your input and patience. It's a great app!

And to answer your question about whether the iPad had 2.1.4 installed before, the answer is yes. That's why when it stopped working with 2.1.5, I thought there might have been a glitch with the update.

Rusty... I'm interested in getting a wft-e4ii to connect to my ipad 2... How many seconds between snap to preview - at what jpeg resolution?

Sorry for the delay. I just now saw your post as I only come to the forum when experiencing a problem with ss.

I set the 5dm2 for raw+small jpg transmitting only the smallest jpg possible to the ipad. I've never timed it but estimate it takes about 10 seconds for the first image to appear. Once I get shooting, though, it could take longer for the last image to appear because the system is moving many more pictures and needs to catch up.

Hope that helps even though I'm a few months behind.
