Where is it failing when trying to set up the direct connection? Are you getting an error messages and if so what exactly do they say?

Also if you decide to use one iPad, or have all the iPads upload to one master, make sure you set each camera to use a unique file name. I.e. CAMa0000.jpg, CAMb0000.jpg etc so you don't have them each sending a file named IMG0000.jpg.

Do you have access to another router and network to try setting the card up? Fritzbox routers have security that has caused problems with Eye-Fi Cards in the past. If you can set it up on another network and it works then we can figure out the issue with your network if it still doesn't work.
