Version 1.1.3/1.1.4 (Approved)

I'll keep this thread updated when a new version is awaiting approval

Version 1.1.3/1.1.4 (Approved)

Postby TheBrew » Sat May 29, 2010 12:16 pm

OK. I feel like I spend most of my time saying "This is fixed in the version that is currently in review! It should be approved very soon".

Well. It's now been rejected for the 2nd time for interesting reasons which I'm sure I can't tell you about (but it's not because of new features).

Frustrating to say the least. And it seems that every time it's rejected, it takes them a week to approve (or reject) it.

Anyway - just letting you know that the new version won't be out yesterday or today ..and probably not for the next week :(

These are the fixes/features of what's in review:

* Made sure that images are never resized to be less than the screensize.
* Images sent by mail, are the original files - no more crops. Was an "interesting" feature, but ending up with strangely scaled images.. no thanks.
* Added export of multiple images through e-mail and FTP to the superuser editing function.
* Removed thumb for locked collections in the Move to collection dialog.
* Made saving of photos to the iPad saved photos folder more gentle - to avoid crashing the Photos app..
* Added ability to turn Eye-Fi debugging alerts on and off. Off per default.
* Fixed a bug that would skew the image offset a little while browsing.
* Added a "refresh" button in the ImageInfo dialog (tap and hold image in the filmstrip) for updating file info and cache image.
* Image rotation + crop fixed.
* Image analysis is now performed in parallel with transfers. Should fix timeout problems.
* Thread safe image scaling.
* Shutter speed comparison is now flipped, so it's more logical to read (more equals faster).
* Added an option to accept only JPEG transfers from the Eye-Fi uploads.
* Eye-Fi transfers are now saved directly to disk.

Approved! Worst part is that I think the Eye-Fi saving to disk feature is fubared. Resulting in slow transfers. Fixed in the ..next version.

And I wonder how long the review process will be the coming week with the World Wide Developer Conference going live.

Yes, it's really, really slow and inconsistent. I loaded the new program and it transfered to jpegs quickly and wouldn't transfer anything else then crash! Is it because it's transfering raw files?

It's ignoring non-JPEGs per default - but that's not the problem. The problem is the handling of saving it temporarily to disk - I made it do this to avoid crashing when receiving large JPEGs (and in the future, other files).

Such a b.. that this one made it to this version - a result of the constant app-rejection during the last weeks..

I've now sent a pleading, weeping, begging, selling-my-soul-mail to the review team and asked them to please approve the fixed version (that is up for review now) as fast as they can - since there are no new features. Just a bug fix.

I'm really. REALLY sorry that things have to work this way.. Big decisions may be made this weekend.

1.1.4 made it to the Apple store! This version looks quite nice. My EyeFi sends my Sony dsc-tx5 jpegs to ShutterSnitch using the EyeFi protocol reliably now and rotated images are handled correctly. More testing tomorrow with my Canon 1d and raw images but so far so good. Nice work!

Yes! And approved in 4 days, nice people over there!

Hope you all like it ..I sure do.. :)

Regarding RAW: transferring large files (>20MB) is a little funky. I'm unsure if it's because it currently receives to memory - that should be it, but I get the same funkyness on my simulator which has way more memory available. From my tests it looks like it's just my Eye-Fi card timing out. Anyway. Will be looked into.. and remember, if you want to test RAW transfers from Eye-Fi - you need to enable receiving of non-JPEGs in the Settings app.

No promises (yet) about handling other files than JPEG though.
