Fantastic, thanks for that, and I don't even need to buy a router as I've got a spare one I was trying to find a use for!!!

I didn't know about SS Backup; that could be the final piece in the jigsaw!

Cheers,

Hmm, struggling a little here. For the arrangement described (router, with card, iPad and Mac connected to it), should it be enough to enable Internet pass through on the card and point that at the router? Should that then allow ShutterSnitch to find the Flashair card, even though it's not connected to it directly?

Looks as if I may have to use station mode as described here: https://flashair-developers.com/en/docu ... dvanced/1/.

Is that correct do you know?

Yes, it should be set up in Station mode - and be sure to set the configuration to

Code: Select all
APPNAME=flashair

If ShutterSnitch doesn't discover it, try opening Safari and type in http://flashair and see if that shows you the content of the card. If it doesn't, try http://flashair.local - and if that works let me know, because then I'll have to update my code.

Thanks. I probably won't be able to test that for a couple of days, but will let you know the outcome when I do.

OK, tested. ShutterSnitch can't connect, and I can't connect at http://flashair/, but CAN connect at http://flashair.local.

OK, so that means a change to your code, which in turn means I'm not going to be able to use it in this mode for my first booking on 17th October :(. What do you think my most reliable configuration would be in the meantime? It seems to me I'm stuck with having the card in access point mode, connecting both iPad and laptop to that, and using FlashAirSync to transfer to my Mac.

If I also want to upload to Facebook (using the venue's wifi), I'll have to use pass through mode I guess.

Happy to do more tests if you need me to: I'm DEFINATELY going to need this mode, so anything I can do, I will :)

If you want to use the venue's wi-fi, there's a chance it'll work if you let your card, iPad, and Mac join it instead of your own router. I say "a chance" in case they've set up some security to shield off devices from each other - if they haven't, it should just work.

Let's see if we can get you up and running before your first booking. I'll send you a private message..

Thanks, PM replied to :)

Do you mean a chance the venue's wifi will work after you've made code changes? I can't see how it could work beforehand if the issue is that SS needs to be looking for http://flashair.local rather than http://flashair.

Once I've got it working through my own booth mounted, non-internet connected router, I have no intention of ever trying it via the venues wifi, given that 9 times out of 10 even email is quicker over 3G than it is over public wifi!

So that'd leave me unable to upload from SS to the internet, but I don't think that'd be a big deal.

Unless............I wonder if I could set my router up as a client bridge to access the internet via the venue's wifi. May be possible as I think my router supports client bridge mode. I'll have a play once the basics are sorted :)

No, I was purely talking about a solution for your Internet access. There's a chance transfers between the card, iPad, Mac, and Internet will work if they haven't set up any security disallowing devices to talk to each other on the intranet.

Having your own router gain the Internet access would be perfect if you could get that to work.

I've seen your most recent PM, thanks, and having moderated a forum before now, completely understand why you turn them off :)

Yes, having my router as a client bridge to the venue wifi would be great, and easy to configure at each event, so I'll test that soon and let you know whether it works :)

Not sure how much you want to share here, but how will I know when it's safe to update from the app store? In fact, should I turn off automatic updates until it is?
