So - quick follow-up question.

My app has a simple camera roll interface to allow the user to bring in photos , and do some other stuff. Using something like an Eye-Fi with their app has been our go-to platform for a while, but we obviously haven't used that setup for a while, or we would have known about the background problem.

Is it a safe assumption that:
If my app is in the foreground, and I swipe in your app from the right (Split View) for a couple of seconds
then I'm starting the 3 minute clock over again?

Yep. Activating the app equals another "up to 3 minutes".

If you have an iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, or iPad Pro you can set it up so both apps are on the screen and active all the time. Then you wouldn't need to worry about SS being put to sleep.

I'm curious about this "on the screen and active" statement. How does one keep an app "active" other than touching it occasionally, and how does split screen feature have any affect on this? Wouldn't an app be active when touching it regardless of whether or not split screen was being utilized?

Correct. Perhaps I should have written "..are on the screen and therefore active..".
