Reset Superuser when App is in restricted mode

Postby egonschurter » Mon Oct 28, 2019 12:06 pm

Is there a way of resetting the superuser password if the app is in restricted mode?
I have access to the ipad with apple configurator 2.

The only way would be to delete the app and re-install it.

Since that'll also wipe all data, make sure to extract all your collections before you delete it. I haven't tried it in a while, but I think iMazing can make a complete backup. If not, you can get them all out via File Sharing in iTunes (or via Finder -> iOS device -> Files in the in the latest macOS Catalina).
Support the development of ShutterSnitch: Rate/review it in iTunes, Tweet about it, make Youtube videos, blog about it.. Get the word out.

Thank's. I will try the Finder-way in Catalina.

Sometimes I have to give out the superuser-Password to people maintaining the kiosk-ipad. And then somebody accidentally must have set a new superuser password. It would be handy to have some sort of second root password to unlock. Or a second Puk. But this is probably a rare case/need not worth implementing.
