When photos are imported into iPhoto for Mac it'll automatically parse that location and make sure you see it a pin in the "Places" category (in the left pane). It simplifies the view if you've zoomed out too far, but gets more detailed when you zoom in.
To see more details for a photo in iPhoto, you click the "Info" button the the lower right-hand corner.
If you've geo-tagged a photo in ShutterSnitch after you transferred it to iPhoto, those changes won't be reflected there until you transfer the photo again.
