New beginner having issues

Postby mcaf123 » Wed Sep 03, 2014 11:15 pm

So I finally received my 16GB Transcend WiFi card, bought and downloaded SS and updated the firmware on my card to the latest version, but SS doesn't seem to connect to the card.

I followed the instructions set out in the sticky post in this thread and I managed to take and transfer two photos no problem. When I took the third photo, it wouldn't transfer and now SS won't connect to the card anymore to transfer new pics. Just for info, I have set up the card to work in internet access mode with my home router. I have also set the card to connect in this mode by default on startup.

Also, is transferring existing pics on the card that have not yet been transferred to SS not supported? One of my main uses would be to be out and about snapping pics, come home and have them all uploaded to Dropbox via SS.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Once you're connected to the card, you can tap the tool-button, pick "Import images" select all photos and import them.

If you're having issues connecting, try going into the ShutterSnitch settings, scroll all the way to the bottom and turn on "Traffic Inspector". Then try connecting again and see if the log gives you any pointers as to what's going wrong. Feel free to copy and paste the log here for my take on it.

I see that it says Transcend transfers are disabled. It was definitely enabled when I checked before. I've re-enabled and will check again.

It looks like you've enabled the wrong type of card.

Go into the ShutterSnitch settings, turn off Toshiba FlashAir and turn on Transcend Wi-Fi instead.

I've tried it again and took a photo and it transferred fine - it also transferred 5 previous photos I had taken. Then as it was trying to transfer more of them, it said the connection had timed out on the logs. SS has now disconnected from the card, I've left and then re-entered the collection but the connection wasn't re-established.

I've turned the camera off and on again and its transferring again. Is there some sort of timeout setting I've glossed over?

EDIT 1: scrap that, even though it says connected to the card and it showed transferring, the photo hasn't appeared in SS.

EDIT 2: tried turning it off and on again, and its transferring all the ones it hasn't transferred yet.

No. If it times out it's usually because of a bad signal strength.

It can also happen if the camera cuts the power to the card or if you take photos while it's transferring and the card gets overloaded with work.

So would you say it's not fit for purpose then?
