Flashair iOS personal hotspot

Postby spamtomas » Thu Feb 27, 2014 10:57 pm

So I thought I could use my flash air connected directly to the personal hotspot on my iphone and have shuttersnitch perform upload actions to Dropbox. However shuttersnitch doesn't seem to be able to download from it. The flash air connects to my phone ok. Is this not possible?

Cheers

This mode is only supported by the 2nd generation card, right? (I only have the first)

If you open Safari on your device while the card is connected, and type http://flashair into the address bar, do you see the contents of the card?

If not, do you see it if you type in http://flashair.local ?

Yeah it's only 2nd gen cards. Tried both options but http://flashair times out straight away and http://flashair.local keeps trying but never gets anywhere :-(

You say the FlashAir connects to the Personal Hotspot OK - you verified this using the official FlashAir app, correct?

Yeah it connects ok, i have followed the guide that toshiba posted here https://flashair-developers.com/en/docu ... dvanced/1/

Here is where it gets wierd, if i am quick i can connect to http://flashair.local and see the photos on the card however it times out within seconds. It seems to be a configuration problem with the card. I will play around and see if i can get a stable connection and see http://flashair.local. Soon as i can i will come back to you to see if it can work with shuttersnitch.

Sorry to go of topic but do you know if eyefi cards will operate in station mode..as in, I can connect to the eyefi using personal hotspot and have shuttersnitch upload incoming photos at the same time to my dropbox? If so i might ditch the flashair for eyefi

Thanks, much appreciated!

And yes, Eye-Fi cards (except for the 'mobi' variant) can be set up to join the Personal Hotspot and ShutterSnitch can then use your cellular connection to upload to Dropbox when new photos arrive.

Thanks for that, I played around a bit more but I just couldn't get it to work in station mode properly :-(. Will probably switch to eyefi then :-)
