a few things to check:

- make sure you're sending jpeg only to the ipad
- make sure the card you're recording the jpegs to, is set as the playback card.

Yes, everything it’s like you said.

Maybe you can have a look at the (attached) traffic inspector data?

I'm not the developer, so i wouldn't be able to decipher that log, but are you using the FTP selection on the camera to connect to the ipad?

I don't own an R5, but I can say there's no FTP traffic in that log, so I think Nick is on to something there. (I assume you'll want to use the FTP selection?)

I'm not sure if the PTP communication is needed for the FTP transfers - but if it *isn't* there's a chance that it's actually confusing the camera. Nick, do you have PTP/IP enabled in your ShutterSnitch settings?

Edit: I just noticed, imacri, the log shows that you have the 'Canon CameraWindow' turned on in the ShutterSnitch settings - that's for the non-high end cameras and could cause confusion to the camera. Step one is turning that off. :)

Confirmed to both of you, I do NOT use the canon camera window, only ftp.

I will try to use ftp for this camera, nothing else works for it until now.

All my other cameras (R, R3,R5) worked just fine with the simpler settings (smartphone, eos utility).
The R5m2 connects just like the others but doesn’t send (push) me any photos, in both cases, linked to a router or camera as access point.

Happy to report that the ftp method succeeded!
The others didn’t and I am very curious if anyone was more lucky and how.

For those of you who haven’t seen the R5 mark2, I would like to say that the menus became more complex with each new camera R, R5, R3 and now R5m2. What was intuitive before, now it doesn’t work anymore.
My only solution was to follow step by step and adapt the tutorial from page 1 of this thread, the ftp part.

Other good info that I put in practice was to buy a wifi modem on batteries so I can use a smart tv to mirror my ipad and keep my clients happy and far from the action :)

Thanks everyone!

And speaking of modern Canon cameras, it’s true that you can save the connection settings on a card.
But they don’t work on different cameras, only on the exact type of camera.

Good news: Nick was kind enough to help me get PTP transfers working with the R5 Mark II. The latest version 7.3 lets you transfer files using the Smartphone connection option. No FTP setup needed.
