Yeah, that'll definitely not work. Clear your mind completely of the Wi-Fi network. The 10.30.29.x network has nothing you want to get this working.

Go back to what I said:

Ethernet Connection - (Static setup in the Settings app on your ethernet dongle)
IP - 192.168.1.20
Mask - 255.255.255.0

Camera IP -
IP - 192.168.1.2
Mask - 255.255.255.0

FTP Mode on Camera -
FTP Server - 192.168.1.20
Port - 26000 (double-check that's 3 zeros)

log in with 'snitch' and the super-user password
Selected Root folder

Have the Traffic Inspector open so you can see any error messages.

It worked!!! Thanks for your patience and willingness to see me through this.

Now, 2nd issue. :)

When I shoot the photo imports like it should. I have an Action Task built to export to Google Drive. It does not transfer. I get an error report that it timed out. Then my camera disconnects and the wifi reconnects. Then my camera connects for about 2 minutes with wifi on the iPad then the wifi disconnects and I am back to the time out error.

No problem. TCP networking is just about as long-haired as it gets ..not exactly something regular users should have to struggle with in 2019. :)

Your camera connects for about 2 minutes with wifi? I don't understand that? Is it able to do that?

And I don't understand the "and the wifi reconnects" - do you mean the iPad has lost its wifi connection at some point? Because it shouldn't.. Your iPad has access to your Wi-Fi network all the time, doesn't it? (Well, it sounds a little like it doesn't.. which is not good.)

Sorry! i'll clarify.

My ipad keeps dropping its wifi signal, which it does not normally do. When I am using SS, sometimes the wifi will drop off when I connect my camera via ethernet. Or the ipad will be connected to wifi and my camera will be connected to SS but after a few shots and Action Task Google Drive uploads, the wifi cuts off.

iOS is so locked down (in a good way) that it's not possible for apps to affect the Wi-Fi connection.

So if you have problems with that, it's either because of bad hardware (iPad or wi-fi router) or a bad setup in the Settings app.

Try going into the Settings app, tap Wi-Fi, and tap the blue (i) to the right of your wi-fi network. Double check that 'Configure IP' is set to 'Automatic'. Perhaps try tapping the 'Renew Lease' button.

I called Apple and they had me reset my network settings. It worked! My first tethered shoot went ok. I put the iPad in pocket mode and carried it in my smaller camera bag. I turned on pocket mode but my ipad turned off due to autolock. I will test that out at my next shoot. Thanks again for everything!!

Does the Traffic Inspector say anything interesting when the camera tries to connect?

You got the IP wrong - it should be 192.168.1.20
