1dx - wfte6 connection fails and fails

Postby Lightspeed » Thu Mar 12, 2020 8:07 pm

Hello,

after working successfully with Shuttersnitch and my Toshiba flash air i changed systems and got a canon 1dx. Days of trouble started ...
i am sorry to post this combination 1dx and wfte6 again. But none of the other threads helped. The only thing I did was following the wft-e4 guide.
I exactly followed the guide, the wft is seen by my iPad (2019 iOS 13), I can check the Wlan and connect.
Starting Shuttersnitch immediately after choosing the wft and opening a collection ... the collection shows the ip 192.168.1.5 but ...
... when shooting no pics arrive at Shuttersnitch. Traffic Inspector shows the following

Green light on camera stays stable as long camera is hold alive per trigger.
I am on it now for four days ... can you give me a hint?
I have taken my medicine and will not explode, revolt or implode. Just want to have my pix on the pad. Nothing more.

Thanks in advance
Christian

p.s.: managed to follow the inspector. Every time I trigger the connection per camera trigger the log comes to
Code: Select all
"FtpConnection sendMessage '200 Type set to I.'"

when I take a picture:
Code: Select all
"FtpConnection didReadData (6)
19:55:24.060 FtpConnection <QUIT
19:55:24.070 FtpConnection Perform QUIT
19:55:24.078 FtpConnection doQuit (
    QUIT
)
19:55:24.083 FtpConnection sendMessage '221 Goodbye'

follows. Maybe interesting?

Re: 1dx - wfte6 connection fails and fails

Is ‘Overwrite same file’ in the FTP server setup on the camera set to Enabled? If not, make sure it is - that’s causing weirdness on the 1Dx.

Well, the good news is that the problem is isolated to the camera setup. The connection and communication with ShutterSnitch is working as it should - it’s the camera that is failing due to *something*. So you only need to fiddle with the camera settings.

Maybe try switching between ‘active’ and ‘passive’ FTP connection.

Or maybe it’s a path issue - can you tell it to *not* maintain the same directory structure? (Essentially, the less the camera has to “do clever things” the better.)

You saved my day ...
It was a path issue.
Menu "FTP-Server":
Filestructure set from "standard" to "camera". Worked immediately.

After four days. But your hint was the way ...

man ... what a road to hell. Thank you so much

Awesome! Hopefully it’ll be rock solid from now on. If there’s a way to save the configuration, maybe it’s a good idea to do that now. :)

You can count on that ... searching for this option now. Do you know how to prevent the iPad from switching back to Standard-WLAN after power savings? Mobile data is off.
Forget it ... another small construction site in my road.
thanks again and many greetings to the north. Love your app.
