Would the app able to get photos directly from Nikon D850 since it has built-in Wi-Fi?

I haven't tested with one, so I can't say.

But my guess would be yes. ..and if it doesn't work, I'd have to make sure it does. :)

Just noticed it probably only supports SnapBridge and not the WU2 networking..

If so, then no, ShutterSnitch doesn't support it. SnapBridge relies on Bluetooth as far as I know, which makes things tricky.

I'm busy getting version 4.0 ready for the iOS 11 release, so I don't have time for anything else. But when things have settled down, I'll look into SnapBridge. Can't promise anything though.

Yeah, this could be a problem as SnapBridge is meant to be terrible (tho only from reports, as personally I have no experience using it).

There was a post somewhere saying that Nikon have implemented WiFi in another of their DSLRs so that if SnapBridge is not running, then it comes off the network ... it'll probably be the same with the D850, which is so so disappointing :(

If you could please keep an eye on it, as a long time ShutterSnitch user, that'd be appreciated!

I just got my Nikon D850 today, it does have bluetooth and wifi, but I'm not sure under what circumstance does the wifi turn on/start broadcasting.

It does ask when connected bluetooth with snapbridge inside the snapbridge app

When I turn off bluetooth on the D850, it allows me to change the settings for wifi.

Let me know if you have any questions so I can test it out for you.

Thanks,
MW

What Wi-Fi options do you have when turning off the Bluetooth?

The Wifi allows me to have Network settings

SSID
Authentication/encryption (which is just WPA2)
and also channel (either Auto or manually set between 1-11)

And those are settings for a network that the camera creates? Or does it allow you to join a wireless network?

That is for the camera to create, I don't believe it can join a network
