Bug with the Capture Time variable

When renaming raw files in shuttersnitch from my EOS R to include the capture time, the EXIF creation time isn’t used. Instead it uses the time that the file was imported into shutter snitch. In my case i share the images to ShutterSnitch from an external drive using the files app on my iPad Pro 2017 10.5” running iPadOS13.1 beta 3.

If the file is not a JPEG, ShutterSnitch asks iOS for the metadata for it.

If iOS can’t help, I fall back on the import date.

I can see the Exif capture time from within SS (“file information”) command. But you can’t access this from the file when it’s already imported into SS? Seems odd. Can you explain in more detail why you can query the info for display but not use it for the file renaming?

OK, so iOS can read some metadata - looking into it!

Update: Hm. OK, I have a check to see if it's a JPEG file before I move on.. Must be from the old days when non-JPEGs could cause crashes. Today I feel more safe - I'll open up for all types of files in the next version. Thanks for reporting this!

It was a CR3 file in my case. Very happy to have been able to help.
