orientation FUJI

Postby photog » Mon Mar 09, 2020 10:26 am

Hello

I import a highsize (FUJI) JPG from IOS-PhotoApp to SN and send it (in original state) via ftp to my database. The orientation in my database is wrong (now landscape). (In SN and IOS-PhotApp the orientation is ok.).

Sounds like your photo database doesn’t read the Exif orientation.

If you want, you can have ShutterSnitch “flatten” the image by applying the orientation before it uploads: in the Pre-process part of the FTP Location setup, Resize to Max 10000.

I resized it to max 2800 px..
It may be a similar problem I had before with CANON JGGs ( viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2607 ).

... another strange behavior with Fuji-JPGs:

if I crop a highsize file to landscape size and want to share it (via IOS mail), the emails preview is very distorted.

Interesting. The file has no Exif orientation information at all. In which case it would default to being 1 ..but by the looks of it it's an 8 or 6. And the metadata shows conflicting dimension information. Very interesting.

Just to be sure (since the filename is not what a camera would name it): This is an original untouched file from the camera, as if it was taken right off the card?

I wasn't able to reproduce the portrait -> landscape edit -> email distortion you mentioned with your photo, but I downloaded some X-H1 sample photos from DPReview and with those I can. Looking into that. Interesting bit: Those sample photos do have Exif orientation info.

... I imported the X-H1 file from card B (card A RAW, card B JPG) via IOS photo app.

Do you want a file direct from the card (without IOS photo app) ?

Ah, yeah that could have messed with it. Just to be sure, I'd like to see the original file yes. Thanks!

@TheBrew:

Trying to attach the file directly from card I got this message: 'Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached' .

Can I email it ?
