Prevent repeat backups

Postby Rossik » Thu Jan 02, 2014 11:43 pm

Hello all

Currently transfer from Eye-Fi to ShutterSnitch on my iPad air and then use ShutterSnitch Backup to import into a folder on my mac. The issue I am having is after the next stage when I import into Aperture and move the images out of that folder. At this stage unless I delete them from the iPad app then SS Backup will want to re-transfer them again. At this point I can delete the collection but may still want to keep it in the app for a while longer.

A feature to recognise when photos have been backed up and an option to not have those re-transferred would be great. At the moment I have made the collection folder read only on my Mac which seems to be stopping them from coming over although the Backup app still shows a transfer progress bar so not sure if it is fully resolved using this technique.

Anyway, keep up the great work. Just about to purchase GeoSnitch to complete my sharing solution.

I have to say this would also be great for me.
I experimented using shuttersnitch and SSB as a photobooth. When a person stars the photos SSB backed them up, then I used a hotfolder program called "printripper" which detects when a new file is in a folder and it automatically prints it. However printripper requires that automatically printed file to be deleted or moved. So when printripper did this SSB & shutter snitch would re send the file over upon taking a new photo/shuttersnitch refreshing and it would print again which is what I didnt want.

I tried setting printripper so it uses the folder I set SSB to make a copy to but its the same story with that.
It would be nice to have a setting where shuttersnitch only backs up once like Rossik says. An ideal scenario would be that if starred it backs up the file.... If we then as users through whatever means be it outselves or automation move that file, then the only way to re engage the back up scenario again would be to unstar and star again.
