Eye-Fi Mobi setup

Postby rob » Fri Jun 14, 2013 3:53 pm

I have an Eye-Fi Mobi card (used for capturing photos directly to my mobile devices without having to connect to an existing wifi network) and when I use the official Eye-Fi app, images load in perfectly well into my iOS devices. If terminate the Eye-Fi app (double tap on the home button, press and hold on the Eye-Fi app until I see the "-" indicator, and then manually terminate the app) and run ShutterSnitch, I can't get the images to transfer. Is there some trick to getting ShutterSnitch to recognize this Eye-Fi mobi card?

I have confirmed in the "Wi-Fi" settings of the iOS "Settings" app that the iPad is connected to the Eye-Fi card. And the ShutterSnitch "show listening info" is reporting "IP 10.105.106.2 + Port 26000", which suggests it realizes it's connected to the Eye-Fi Mobi card, too. (If I turn the camera is turned off, ShutterSnitch correctly reports "No network connection", as you'd expect.) But when I shoot, nothing comes in. The native Eye-Fi app will import the shots as I take them, fine, and if I connect later, it also catches up perfectly.

I wish I had the integration of the native Eye-Fi app and the feature set of ShutterSnitch. Jumping back and forth between apps is a hassle.

I'm hoping that there is some simple setting that I'm overlooking. Can anyone help me?

Go back to the collection overview screen, tap the Options button in the top left-hand corner and pick Setup Guide.

Then tap 'Eye-Fi mobi' and then the Done button.

From now on you should be able to receive from your card whenever you're inside a collection.

Once the photos go to ShutterSnitch you won't need to open the Eye-Fi app ever again. ..unless you want to, of course. :)

Hi,

Tried the above several times with new Eye-Fi mobi on Nikon D7000. I've even tried deleting and reinstalling ShutterSnitch with no luck.

Eye-Fi app and Photosmith both work. Help, please!

Try going into the ShutterSnitch settings, scroll a little down and turn on the "SSID in status bar" option. That way it'll be easy for you to see if the card is connected or disconnected.

Then scroll all the way to the bottom and turn on "Traffic Inspector". Tap Done and enter a collection. Now you'll see the traffic inspector that logs all traffic - take a couple of photos and see what the log says. Any help there? If nothing happens, copy the contents of the log and paste it here please.

The card is not contacting ShutterSnitch at all..

I wonder if the Eye-Fi app or Photosmith is running in the background, receiving the photos?

To make sure they're not, double-click the home button, tap and hold any icon down in the bottom bar until they start shaking, then tap the red minus icon on the Eye-Fi app and the Photosmith app.
Then go back to ShutterSnitch, exit a the collection and re-enter it. Then try again.

I've already done that. Just to make sure I deleted Photosmith. Traffic inspector still shows: Eye-Fi: Enabled (0 cards). Changed card slots. Still not working.

With Eye-Fi mobi you can't connect to the Eye-Fi Center app on a computer to change settings. It can only work in direct mode. Would that be a problem for ShutterSnitch?

No, many users have confirmed that the Mobi works with 2.10.1.

The message about 0 cards is related to non-mobi cards (= cards on your Eye-Fi account), so don't mind that. :)

Maybe a format of the card will reset something?

If that doesn't work, and since it sounds like you have the Eye-Fi center installed - could you try inserting the card into your computer, click the Eye-Fi icon in the status bar, pick "Get Eye-Fi Card log", and then attach it here?

Hi,

Formated the card many times. Unfortunately Eye-Fi Center doesn't recognise/work the mobi card so I can't use it.

I've just tried ShutterSnitch on my iPhone with same results - no images imported. Installed Eye-Fi app and it works.

Oh well... I'll keep an eye on Derek Story's blog to see if he gets ShutterSnitch working.

Have you taken new photos? They only transfer once so the ones that transferred earlier to the Eye-Fi App will not be resent.

Helper will still recognize the card and let you get a card log, that will let is see what the card is doing.
