Export Pictures to FTP Server

Postby BirgerKlaus » Mon Jan 29, 2018 1:49 pm

Hi Brian,

I have issues with exporting Pictures to FTP.
Tried my own (Hosted) Server and also Picdrop-Service (FTP, FTPS, SFTP), both without pre-process and also only jpeg. A single File works sometimes, transmitting multiple Files stops after the first Picture. And the Program stops working.
The connection mode is both passive and active FTP, WLAN and LTE/4G/3G.

I think it could be a wrong recognized Server command?

Kind regards!
Birger

Re: Export Pictures to FTP Server

Postby TheBrew » Mon Jan 29, 2018 2:49 pm

I don't think this is related to the FTP upload.

I saw this exact thing, and thought I fixed it with version 4.1.4, but in that case I was just saving to the camera roll. The issue was the renaming of the files.

Could you do this for me:

Open the Action Presets and tap the Edit button. Then tap and hold the preset that fails and tap "Copy". Then paste that preset in a post here. (Hopefully I can reproduce the issue on my side using that.)

While you're there, try tapping and holding the preset again, and then tap "Duplicate". Then edit that duplicate and remove the rename step. Then try and see if the action uploads files as intended.

If that still doesn't work, try replacing the FTP export with a save to the camera roll. If that works, I guess we'll have to dig deeper into the FTP export. ..My spidey senses just tell me it's the rename.. :)

Good news - I've found a way to reproduce it on my side. Looking into it!

Thank you for the fast reaction.

I tried your suggestion, If I only run the FTP-Export Action, own Server and Picdrop (SFTP), I got the same issue.
Sometimes I got a timeout error. Test with WLAN/DSL and 4G connection.

Looks like it's not related to any of the actions. The list just goes into an endless loop when I ask it to update the status.

I've now found a different way of doing that. Using your preset and only changing the FTP location to my Dropbox, it's been solid so far.

I'll do some more testing to be sure, and hopefully submit version 4.1.6 to the App Store for review later tonight / tomorrow.

Be sure to let me know if it doesn't fix it - and thanks for reporting it!

Hi Brian,

before I complain again about something, the good things first: great Update!
And I hope the Tip Jar fills up.

But unfortunately these Problem occurs again, without any success / fail actions it runs smooth.
If I add a action than these problem comes up. No matter if I only use Taps or move actions.

For me there is no hurry about these issue, I'am very fine with the new Metadata AddOn and the Labels.
Thy works fine with LR CC and PM5, Thank You!

Best Regards!
Birger

Thanks :)

Can you give me a copy of that Dropbox export action task and of the success/failure tasks?

(Start editing the Action Tasks, then tap and hold the task to see the copy-menu.)
